
New York, March 10–11, 2026 — During the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Tencent SSV Inclusive Health Lab, successfully held the "Digital Intelligence Empowers Women's Health Development" Public Welfare Symposium and Women's Public Welfare Achievements Exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters. The event was aimed to advance the outcomes and initiatives of the Global Women's Summit, with strong support from the Sino-American Culture and Art Foundation (SACAF).
Distinguished guests engaged in in-depth discussions on topics related to digital intelligence technologies and women’s health. Many experts emphasized the importance of jointly leveraging digital technologies to empower women’s health and social development, enabling more women to access broader opportunities in the digital era.

Chen, Xiaoxia, Chairperson of the China Women’s Development Foundation, delivered a video address, highlighting that the symposium represents a concrete effort to implement the spirit of the Global Women’s Summit and advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Soyoltuya Bayaraa, Deputy Executive Director (Programme) of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), praised China’s innovative practices in digital technologies such as AI-assisted diagnosis and telemedicine, which have significantly improved the accessibility and quality of healthcare services for women. She expressed hope that all parties will continue to optimize the inclusiveness of digital health services and deepen practical cooperation.

Lily Gray, Senior Liaison Officer at the UNESCO New York Office, noted that emerging technologies are transforming society, and it is essential to ensure that women and girls are not only included in this transformation but also empowered to shape it. She also emphasized that digital technologies contribute to the preservation and dissemination of culture, including intangible cultural heritage related to health, such as acupuncture.
Following the symposium, a digital empowerment exhibition showcasing women’s public welfare achievements was held.
Approximately 150 participants attended the event, including representatives from: China Women’s Development Foundation, Sino-American Friendship Association, Sino-American Culture and Art Foundation, Tencent, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, Consulate General of China in New York, UN Women, UNFPA, UN Office for Partnerships, UNESCO New York Office, Hong Kong Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, Medical institutions, technology companies, domestic and international experts, and media organizations.
During the keynote session, speakers shared China’s cutting-edge practices in women’s health and digital public welfare.

A roundtable panel discussion themed “Digital Empowerment and Global Collaboration: Building an Inclusive Ecosystem for Women’s Health” was held simultaneously.

At the same time, the “Digital Empowerment of Women Public Welfare Achievements Exhibition” was held at the UN Headquarters. The exhibition showcased digital public welfare initiatives by CWDF and its partners in areas including:
• Women’s health
• Entrepreneurship and employment
• Empowerment through intangible cultural heritage (ICH)
The exhibition highlighted China’s achievements in global public welfare cooperation and shared China’s experience in advancing women’s development and global poverty reduction.
The exhibition and cultural showcase also featured live demonstrations of traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage (ICH) crafts, including: Xiang embroidery, Chao embroidery, Su embroidery, Miao paper-cutting, Qiang embroidery, Yi embroidery, Xilankapu weaving, Gongbi peony painting, Lu brocade, Mamian skirt (traditional attire), Shu brocade, Fabric painting.
Artisans demonstrated their craftsmanship on-site and interacted with international guests, vividly showcasing the charm of Chinese intangible cultural heritage and the elegance and creativity of Chinese women.
